To change their surname, an adopted child doesn't need to have a Deed Poll, as the adoption certificate provides sufficient evidence to prove that the child's name has changed to their adopted family's surname. If you present these certificates to the parties concerned, then they should amend their records accordingly. If you want to change the child's first name, or make a further change after adoption, you will require a Deed Poll.
